TONIGHT: Important PTA Meeting + Science Night

Parents! Be sure to come to the PTA general meeting tonight at 6pm in the Phillips cafeteria. We will be putting together a Nominating Committee for next year’s Board, so we need you to be there to vote! Yes, it’s already time to gather volunteers for the 2017-18 PTA Board — there will be plenty of opportunities for you to get involved (or at least nominate your friends).

Students! Get your parents to stay with you after the meeting for Science Night! Who knows what kind of mad scientist concoctions you will make.

See you all there!

Have s’more fun! Volunteer at this week’s Book Fair!

Parents and students! This week at Phillips Elementary is our Happy Camper Book Fair. The spring Scholastic Book Fair is intended to motivate students to read more.

If you are a PTA member, consider joining our volunteer group to help conduct our school’s best reading event!

Join us if you:

  • Like to organize and put things in place
  • Want to help shoppers of all ages find the perfect book
  • Enjoy offering a helping hand with packing up

Sign up for any number of volunteer spots, from as little as 1.5 hours. We appreciate your support in whatever form it takes!

Phillips Events in December for Students, Parents and Teachers

Parents and students! There are just two weeks left of school before the winter break, and there is plenty to do and celebrate! Be sure to check out the following events, which include some parent volunteer opportunities. We could use your help to make this time special for everyone at Phillips Elementary!

  • Peppermint Village Gift Shop — A student-purchase gift shop offers special items for students to buy for their family and friends December 5 – 9. We need parent volunteers to help with sales during lunch times and before/after Celebration of Learning on Thursday and Friday. Just a couple of hours can help!
  • Celebration of Learning — Come enjoy performances from 2nd Grade and 5th Grade, plus the usual awards and birthday celebrations. Be sure to sign up ahead of time for the Thursday and Friday event.
  • Parent Book Study — Join our first-ever parent book study event in the library on December 12.
  • Merry and Bright Movie Night — Ready to get into the holiday spirit? Come watch “Frosty the Snowman” with your friends in the cafeteria on December 12.
  • Teacher Cookie Buffet — Show your appreciation to our teachers by contributing some sweet treats to the cookie buffet on December 14.
  • Winter Class Parties — Parents are invited to their students’ winter class parties on the last day before the holiday break, December 16. Be sure to check for the location, as some parties might be outside the classroom!
  • December teacher birthdays — Don’t forget: there are teachers whose birthdays occur during the winter break. Birthday baker sign-ups are available online here.

Add Your Culture to Multicultural Float at Community Parade

Parents and students! Join the Frisco Community Parade this Saturday, November 12, at 10am to honor our nation’s veterans and celebrate all of the schools, organizations and businesses who call Frisco and Frisco ISD home. The annual event features floats, vehicles and marchers traveling through downtown Frisco, starting from Toyota Stadium.

Frisco Community Parade kids Want to be IN the parade rather than watch it? We are looking for students to help celebrate multiculturalism in FISD by dressing in your culture’s traditional clothing and joining the Council of PTAs’ multicultural float. Contact Inclusivity Chair Lori Chrysanthopoulos at [email protected] for more details on participating.

Check the event website for more information about the parade, including the route map and road closures.

We look forward to seeing you there!
